I know you left your van in Nelson. I left my morals back in Winnipeg. I don't want to be a homewrecker but that's the price I'll pay because your boyfriend's back in Brandon. I know he's ten years older. If we separate the wheat from the chaff will he laugh when we tell him that it's over.
Will he kick my teeth in beside the motel behind the fire hall? Should we wait until it's over? Until we're older? Until we have time?

Rocket off in a car feels the same as a NASA airplane. Looking out at the world no debt like a floating space cadet. There's no room in the back seat. We're masters of aeronautics. Take me to the place. Lock the front door. Turn on MTV and wait for the room to flip. Wait for the world to flip.
It's a ket party.

I'm a wiz. I'm a passed out cat on a sinking sofa. Hand loop through the loops of her hair. Take me to the free party. Give me a balloon. She'll stick with me until sunrise then the pub in the afternoon.

Merlin's Garden:
Merlin's long cotton avon beard flies like a flag in the summer wind. He's planting Lilacs in his lane for the first time. The dirt between his fingernails sing a song that floats on the breeze with the sound of late night bonfires whose whiskey smoke dances like earth's garden in the sky.
He used to be content with planting only the trinity of:
carrots
celery
onion
That soup spoke too slowly with boring stories of chivalry, sunsets and happy endings. "Throw some flavour in the mix," he thought - with the thought of tasting life's real stew. The sweet gentleness of swinging in the afternoon. Or of sour noisy lust on a creaking 3 am bed frame.
It's with all this seasoning he knows he'll be fed for another day,
another summer
another year
as he till his soul's soil.
